Here’s my go-to verse these days from Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
You are God’s workmanship. The Greek word here can be translated as a “masterpiece” or “work of art.” You are enough. You are complete. You were designed and equipped with specific gifts and abilities for the path your feet tread.
You were created in Christ to do good works. GOOD works. Not, let’s just make it until next week, works. Not, I think this patch will hold works. Good, successful, confident, Christ-honoring, God-glorifying works.
God prepared in advance for you to do these works. He looked at the ENTIRE planet and said, “this girl right here, she’s the one I want to work through for this need.” He created you with purpose, he equipped you for that purpose, and then he’s set the stage for you to do what not just needs to be done – but what needs to be done through YOU.
Here’s my other go-to in this season, Psalm 144:1, “Praise be to the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.”
I was never very good at talking to teenage boys. At 42, I’m still not good at talking to teenage boys, and I’m raising one. I love this verse because when I don’t know what I’m doing, I remember, it’s the Lord himself who has trained my fingers and hands for the job ahead. The hard conversations, the silly moments, the are you kidding me moments – he’s already trained me well for the road ahead.
Do I still get intimidated from time to time? Yep.
Do I still make mistakes? Affirmative.
Do I still read good books and seek wise counsel to teach me things I don’t know? Every day.
Let me say it again. You’ve got this. The Word of God is a lamp to your feet and light to your path – and your feet are shod with the gospel of peace. God has designed you as a masterpiece and personally trained you to take on the challenges you are confronted with in life.
It’s not your ability, your smarts, or your hustle that are going to carry the day.
It’s your obedience, your relationship, and love from an all-powerful, all-knowing, eternal, and giving God that is going to see you through it….no matter what THIS is.
