When discomfort propels

Sometimes the hard seasons in life propel us into our assignment.  The early church had two very specific instructions from Jesus just before he ascended to heaven after the resurrection.  First, they were to wait in Jerusalem for the Holy Spirit.  Second, they were to be witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth.  The first one, they nailed -- and the Holy Spirit was imparted to them in the Upper Room.  The second one took about 8 chapters later and after persecution broke out.  Was the persecution ideal, no, but it propelled them into a calling on their lives!  Sometimes we can get too comfortable and miss the assignment God has for our lives, and sometimes hard seasons help us find what's been missing.
